About the position

As a Process Engineer at PPG, you will focus on improving production processes to minimize losses and enhance efficiency rates. This role involves using scientific methods and design of experiments to identify improvement opportunities, implement solutions, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. You will collaborate with various departments on improvement projects and support the plant's future state roadmap, all while reporting directly to the Plant Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Develop improvement plans by presenting data and recommendations to justify and implement capital projects to improve processes and equipment.
  • Support projects and the plant's future state roadmap by identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate and partner with operations and maintenance to improve equipment availability.
  • Apply engineering principles for seamless new product introductions to manufacturing by supporting scale-up activities, departmental work, and process improvements.
  • Implement and improve production processes to eliminate production losses (yield, productivity, downtime) through troubleshooting problems with manufacturing processes, strategic analysis, and implementation of improvement measures.
  • Conduct and implement RCA efforts to identify solutions, including process analytical technologies to implement process control.
  • Develop and review departmental procedures to ensure all process improvements are documented to follow and maintain safety and quality.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering discipline (Chemical/Process or Mechanical concentration).
  • Five (5) years of experience in site manufacturing/operations, process engineering performance engineering, or related roles within manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • Experience in continuous improvement and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Minimum of Green Belt certification is desired, Black Belt certification preferred.
