The Manufacturing/Processing Engineer at Saint-Gobain will play a crucial role in overseeing the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes, tools, and operations for both new and existing products, as well as product transfers. This position requires adherence to FAA and ISO/AS standards, ensuring that all methods and processes are compliant with industry regulations. The engineer will be responsible for optimizing the use of materials, equipment, and personnel to produce quality products while minimizing costs. This role also involves performing duties within established environmental, health, and safety requirements, emphasizing the importance of safety in the manufacturing process. In the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase, the engineer will collaborate with management, production personnel, and cross-functional teams to ensure that products are designed for manufacturability. This includes identifying the necessary equipment and processes required to manufacture both new and existing products. The engineer will also confer with personnel to develop, implement, and optimize operating procedures, addressing any system malfunctions that may arise. The role includes technical support for the Manufacturing department's processes and procedures, leading the Material Review Board (MRB) to review and disposition nonconforming products in conjunction with the Engineering and Quality teams. Additionally, the engineer will develop rework instructions and conduct training for operators to support rework reduction efforts. They will specify new tooling or capital equipment as needed and coordinate tooling/mold maintenance or repair, ensuring that all tooling meets product specifications and quality standards. Collaboration with the quality department on Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action activities is essential, as is interfacing with manufacturing departments to resolve production issues. The engineer will also be responsible for developing models of alternate processing methods to test the feasibility of new applications and recommending improved procedures. Leading improvement teams to drive cost reductions, yield improvements, and efficiency improvements towards World Class Manufacturing goals is a key aspect of this role. Furthermore, the engineer will advance digital and automation initiatives through the site, contributing to the company's Industry 4.0 objectives. Finally, the engineer will analyze work study data and equipment specifications to establish time and production standards, ensuring that the manufacturing process is efficient and effective.
