About the position

The Manufacturing Process Engineer at Hypertherm will be a key member of the Heavy Industrial Operations Engineering Team, responsible for leading projects that drive manufacturing process improvements. This role requires a blend of manufacturing and project management expertise to design, develop, and implement engineering solutions that address critical production challenges. The engineer will collaborate with production and cross-functional teams, focusing on process technology, new product development, automation, and digital technology, all while navigating a dynamic and uncertain work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects to drive manufacturing process improvements across the business team.
  • Oversee and manage multiple projects, ensuring timely completion within budget.
  • Drive technical solutions to improve manufacturing processes, acting as a technical expert.
  • Build relationships with production and cross-functional teams to communicate project goals.
  • Design tooling, fixtures, and workstations for new product introductions.
  • Provide Design For Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) feedback during prototyping.
  • Manage the investigation, capital justification, and purchase of new equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in project management, automation, controls, mechanical design, and process flow.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in high uncertainty environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA).
  • Knowledge of digital technology applications in manufacturing.
