About the position

At Relativity Space, we are on a mission to revolutionize the aerospace industry through innovative additive manufacturing techniques. As a Manufacturing Process Engineer I specializing in Additive Manufacturing, you will play a pivotal role in the Powder Bed Fusion team, which is dedicated to developing, evaluating, and optimizing the additive manufacturing processes for our next-generation liquid propulsion products. This position is not just about engineering; it’s about being part of a visionary team that is shaping the future of space exploration and technology. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the transition of new products and technologies into our sustaining engineering processes. This includes overseeing the installation, commissioning, and operation of advanced additive manufacturing equipment. You will perform critical process validations, including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ), ensuring that our manufacturing processes meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Your expertise will be essential in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures, work instructions, checklists, and safety protocols for additive manufacturing processes. You will establish process flows that align with our production rate and quality goals, ensuring that we meet the demands of our innovative projects. Additionally, you will be tasked with executing powder bed fusion 3D printing activities to support daily production, promptly communicating any roadblocks to team leaders and technicians to facilitate quick resolutions. As part of your responsibilities, you will also resolve non-conformances and conduct root cause analyses, implementing corrective actions to enhance our manufacturing processes. Tracking the utilization of additive machines and driving reductions in both planned and unplanned downtime will be key to optimizing our operations. You will perform manufacturing ROI and cost trade analyses to ensure that we are maximizing our machine capital and process improvements. Furthermore, you will develop and implement tooling and statistical process control measures to improve reliability while reducing costs and lead times.
