About the position

The Shape Corp student engineering program offers students the chance to gain hands-on experience in the manufacturing process across various engineering disciplines. This role is designed to enhance the college experience by providing a challenging and dynamic workplace, allowing students to develop skills and knowledge that will be invaluable for their future careers.

Responsibilities

• Application of engineering calculations.
• Manage projects across multiple disciplines within Shape.
• Create technical documents summarizing data analysis and conclusions.
• Ability to present technical information.
• Study and implement equipment design improvements.
• Study and define optimum processing windows.
• Document and present all study findings via reports and/or operator instructions.
• Introduction to Six Sigma and problem solving using the DMAIC process.
• Conduct statistical analysis including DoE.
• Create simple tool and fixture designs in AutoCAD or Solidworks.
• Support continuous improvement activities.
• Support in troubleshooting and problem solving of production issues.
• Create/revise operator instructions for various activities on the shop floor.
• Support asset management (transfers of equipment/tooling).
• Support annual safety audits of equipment.
• Support plant layout management including revisions and future plant layout planning.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree within an accredited program in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other relevant science or engineering field.
• 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 GPA scale, strongly preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Able to work independently and with a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, statistical and problem-solving skills.
