About the position

As a Manufacturing Process Engineer Lead at Ball Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence through data-based analysis and designed experimentation. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure process consistency by implementing appropriate control systems and promoting a culture of continuous improvement. This position requires a strategic advisor who can lead plant leadership in identifying opportunities for line throughput and process improvements through effective data extraction, transformation, and visualization. You will collaborate with various functional areas to develop performance metrics, analyze gaps, and recommend improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. In this role, you will support the adherence to the MCO process and document control systems, ensuring that all controlled documents are properly managed. You will champion the use of critical systems such as BPLM, Infinity, and CTT, ensuring their accuracy and optimal performance. Additionally, you will support the Food Safety Systems and the plant maintenance system, conducting audits and trials while documenting findings and preparing reports. Training will also be a key component of your responsibilities, as you will educate team members on engineering concepts and tools, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration. Your ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization will be essential, as you will partner with various departments to disseminate critical information. You will assist in mapping complex business processes to support improvement efforts and deploy best practices while confirming and reporting local impacts. Responsibilities

  • Leads and strategically advises plant leadership on line throughput, line balance and process improvement opportunities.
  • Supports process owner to ensure adherence to MCO process.
  • Collaborates with functional areas to develop and report performance metrics against targets.
  • Uses Lean, Six Sigma and data analysis tools to analyze quantitative and qualitative data for decision making.
  • Champions use and functionality of BPLM, Infinity and CTT and ensures accuracy through a validation strategy.
  • Supports the Food Safety Systems per the system requirements and direction of the plant Quality department.
  • Supports the operation of the plant maintenance system and processes per the direction of the Production department.
  • Supports audits and trials through data and process analysis, documenting findings and preparing reports.
  • Conducts training on engineering concepts and tools, including process control and capability, root cause analysis, and problem-solving tools.
  • Partners with plant departments to establish effective communication processes across all departments, shifts and crews.
  • Assists in mapping and documenting complex business processes to support process improvement efforts.
  • Assists with the deployment of approved and assigned best practices and confirms/reports local impacts.

Requirements

  • Broad training in a related field usually acquired through college degree level education or work-related experience; math/science/engineering or information management degree.
  • Job related experience for 4 years minimum.
  • Must possess analytical thinking skills and knowledge of statistical process control and statistical analysis including designed experiments.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple projects, perform complex tasks, organize and follow through consistently, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrable skill in team building, leading, teaching, coaching and influencing leaders; ability to influence upward, across and down with skill, and without formal authority.
  • Change leadership experience; willing to take risks, challenge the status quo and work under ambiguous circumstances.
  • Working knowledge of business principles, legal practices, customer needs and expectations; statistical process control; statistical analysis; quality assurance principles, practices, nomenclature, and procedures.
  • Application experience and skill in MS Office, MINITAB or similar statistical tools.
  • Strong written and oral communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Intelligence and stature to quickly gain credibility and become a trusted advisor to plant staff.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Self-motivation with the ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.

Benefits

  • Hiring Salary Range: $80,800 - $110,000
