About the position

Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corp., U.S.A seeks full-time, Manufacturing Process Engineers for our Rail Car manufacturing facility in Lincoln, NE. The responsibilities of Manufacturing Process Engineer can include developing and writing equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis, and proposals for integrating machinery and equipment into manufacturing processes. This role requires applying knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical wiring, electronics, programming, and manufacturing requirements. The position also involves writing operating programs, planning and designing the integration of machinery into production processes, recommending modifications to quality or production standards, and identifying opportunities to resolve production problems and improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and write equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis and proposals for integrating machinery and equipment into manufacturing processes.
  • Write operating programs by applying knowledge of programming language and machine functions, such as machining centers, robots and automated processes.
  • Plan, design and coordinate integration of machinery and equipment into manufacturing production processes.
  • Recommend modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Identify opportunities and/or implement changes to resolve production problems, maximize process reliability and improve products, efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Provide technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials properties and process advantages and limitations.
  • Design fixtures, carts and production enhancements.
  • Determine adjustments to processing methods using root causes analysis.
  • Record and analyze process data using mathematical calculations and report on those findings.
  • Design experiments for troubleshooting and analyze mechanical, electric or hydraulic systems to ensure quality of product and repeatability of process.
  • Design and review layouts, drawings and schedules of processes of parts to be manufactured.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and one year of related experience or an Associate's Degree and two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience with proven problem solving skills.
  • Previous manufacturing engineering preferred, with knowledge of machinery and equipment used in manufacturing processes.
  • Strong personal computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and databases.
  • CAD and computer programming experience preferred.
  • Ability to apply principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Knowledge of specific methods and techniques to identify the true cause of system or process failures.
  • Knowledge and awareness of GD&T's purpose in part design and inspection.
  • Ability to research and identify specialized resources inside or outside of the organization that will effectively meet the needs of the situation.
  • Ability to communicate clear expectations to the resource, monitor deliverables, evaluate and record results.
