About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer at Hi-Tek Manufacturing plays a crucial role in advancing manufacturing technology by developing and streamlining processes, training operators, and solving manufacturing issues. This position requires hands-on support on the manufacturing floor and collaboration with various teams to ensure quality and efficiency in production. The role is essential for maintaining high standards in the gas turbine and aerospace industries, focusing on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support on the manufacturing floor to develop new processes and improve existing ones.
  • Train and mentor machine operators and machinists.
  • Assist production control in routing and re-routing legacy components to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Perform tooling layouts and concepts, including datum structures on intended machines.
  • Identify and audit root causes and corrective actions for nonconforming parts.
  • Investigate and participate in Material Review Board actions.
  • Devise and implement continuous improvement ideas on ongoing jobs.
  • Complete quotes on projects requiring various processing disciplines.
  • Setup and operate machines or processes as required by job specifications.
  • Complete projects that meet or exceed cost, schedule, quality, and customer specifications.
  • Read and understand blueprints and drawings of customer parts.
  • Complete 1st article data to assure process readiness for operators.
  • Document and establish standards for engineering changes and improvements.
  • Provide training resources and instructions for setup procedures and machining processes.
  • Participate in discussions with engineers, supervisors, and machinists to resolve process and quality issues.
  • Assist Quality Department in identifying and correcting programming issues.
  • Provide time studies, router, and job cost reviews to ensure standards are current.
  • Create and maintain necessary documentation as required.

Requirements

  • Technical degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Engineering, or related field, or 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Practical experience using CAD/CAM software, preferably Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
  • Working knowledge of machine tools and their capabilities.
  • Desire to develop automation for machine tools and part handling systems.
  • Prior experience with complex shapes and their work holding requirements.
  • Prior experience with super alloy metals is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience under AS9100 standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in practical situations.
