About the position

The Project Engineer / Estimator will play a crucial role in the manufacturing process by calculating quotations, drafting fabrication drawings, and maintaining relationships with vendors. This position is integral to ensuring quality delivery and superior customer service in the petrochemical and Oil & Gas sectors. The role involves collaboration with engineering and commercial teams to manage projects from proposal to quality inspection.

Responsibilities

• Calculate/estimate quotations and projects in cooperation with engineering and commercial teams.
• Draft parts in AutoCAD and Inventor for vendor pricing.
• Maintain and create relationships with material vendors, processors, and machine shops.
• Draft production drawings for customer modification and approval.
• Draft fabrication drawings for the operations team.
• Communicate directly with customers regarding necessary changes.
• Define customer needs and communicate them to engineering and manufacturing departments.
• Check with the manufacturing department to ensure products are built within specifications.

Requirements

• Technical degree with a strong affinity for fabricating.
• 1-5+ years of experience as a project engineer/estimator.
• Excellent knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software, specifically AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Ability to independently estimate and calculate quotes.
• Ability to read, understand, and generate technical drawings including welding symbols.
• Ability to perform mechanical calculations on strength.
• Affinity with metal fabrication is essential.
• Outgoing personality for teamwork and customer/vendor interaction.
• Ability to function autonomously with significant responsibilities.
• Flexibility and versatility to work outside standard tasks.
