About the position

The Manufacturing Project Engineer at Bosch Charleston plays a pivotal role in executing new manufacturing equipment projects. This position requires collaboration with various teams, including Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Product Development Technical Teams, to ensure the successful integration of new equipment into operations. The engineer will work closely with Product Development to define product specifications, performance metrics, capacity, and cost structures, ensuring that all new equipment aligns with the company's operational goals. In this role, the engineer will develop comprehensive plans for equipment and process design, overseeing the installation and integration of new machinery. This includes managing relationships with equipment suppliers, determining machine purchase specifications, and ensuring successful factory acceptance testing, delivery, and installation of equipment. The engineer will also be responsible for the total process design and acquisition, working alongside Manufacturing Engineering to facilitate any necessary equipment design and fabrication. A critical aspect of this position involves collaborating with manufacturing production teams to ensure proper equipment operation and providing operator training for a successful process start-up. The engineer will ensure that all new equipment is accompanied by the necessary documentation for servicing and repair, and will assist Manufacturing Maintenance with preventive maintenance schedules and spare parts management. Additionally, the engineer will work with Quality Assurance to develop product specifications, work instructions, and safety procedure documentation, while also facilitating the deployment of lean manufacturing techniques to support a culture of efficiency and waste elimination.

Responsibilities

  • Primary leader to execute new manufacturing equipment projects with support of Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance and Product Development Technical Teams
  • Work with Product Development on product specifications, performance, capacity, and cost structure
  • Develop plans for equipment, process design and installation for integration into operations
  • Work with equipment suppliers to determine machine purchase and performance specifications, manage equipment supplier relationship, equipment build, factory acceptance testing, equipment delivery and installation
  • Manage the total process design, acquisition and any needed equipment design and fabrication with the assistance of Manufacturing Engineering
  • Work with manufacturing production on equipment operation and operator training for successful process start-up
  • Ensure all new equipment has proper equipment documentation for servicing and repair
  • Assist Manufacturing Maintenance with PM schedules and spare parts management
  • Work with Quality Assurance to develop product specifications, work instructions and safety procedure documentation
  • Facilitate the deployment of lean manufacturing techniques on all projects in support of lean culture and elimination of wastes

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering with 3+ years relevant experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Good interpersonal and project management skills
  • Highly organized self-starter and use good judgment
  • Strong analytical skills
