Together, we are building a better world for everyone to enjoy. The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is recognized as one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. Our primary focus is on our customers and assisting them in their mission to build a better world. PSLD plays a crucial role in the services value stream, encompassing everything from procurement to design, manufacturing, and distribution. We are responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement, and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (such as Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (including Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids, and Filters). In this role, you will support process development projects aimed at continuously improving the safety, quality, velocity, and cost of manufacturing. You will provide technical expertise and guidance on major manufacturing projects, collaborating with both internal and external suppliers to enhance manufacturing productivity and cost-effectiveness. Your responsibilities will include implementing major systems and ensuring their coordination with the overall plant operations. You will also communicate with suppliers to analyze their current or proposed product/process designs, assessing the feasibility of using existing designs or modifying them to enhance processes and products. Additionally, you will guide manufacturing engineers and operators to develop high-quality products and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical expertise and guidance in major manufacturing projects.
  • Working with internal/external suppliers to support and improve manufacturing productivity and cost effectiveness.
  • Implementing major systems and coordinating those systems with the total plant.
  • Communicating with suppliers to analyze their current or proposed product/process designs.
  • Determining the feasibility of using existing designs or modifying designs to improve process and/or product.
  • Providing guidance to manufacturing engineers and operators to develop high quality products and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving approaches, tools, and techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational, or process problems.
  • Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects.
  • Knowledge of best practices and standards for improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and safety of manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of how to develop or design a manufacturing process; ability to establish and determine which processes and parameters should be opted to improve functionality and costs.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and ability to integrate and implement them into existing production and management processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications such as 6 Sigma Greenbelt and Safety (OSHA Training).
  • Experience with AutoCAD and MiniTab.
  • Understanding of Control Systems, APQP, Capital Management, NPI (New Product Introduction), NCI (New Capital Introduction), and/or Project Risk Analysis.
