About the position

In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Engineering and will be responsible for planning and executing single or multiple projects that vary in complexity. These capital projects will necessitate collaboration with inter-disciplinary engineering teams, engineers, and external partners. Your primary focus will be on managing all aspects of project safety, scope development, cost estimates, and regular cost forecasts, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. You will work closely with the engineering organization and other departments to manage resources effectively and influence team members to resolve issues and manage conflicts that may arise during the project lifecycle. A key aspect of your role will involve navigating the staged gate processes to take projects from concept to production. You will be expected to manage a range of medium to large projects, overseeing multiple project teams consisting of 5 to 15 engineering professionals, which may include both internal staff and consulting engineers. Your responsibilities will also include ensuring that all project planning, deliverables, reporting, and spending forecasts are managed effectively, adhering to safety, cost, schedule, and performance success criteria. External interactions will be a significant part of your role, as you will engage with equipment vendors, construction contractors, engineering services contractors, and various government agencies, as well as co-manufacturing organizations. You will complete assigned projects by utilizing workflows in collaboration with Innovation, Operations, and Platform Groups. This position requires approximately 75% travel to various internal and co-manufacturer manufacturing plants, vendors, suppliers, and engineering service providers, both domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a range of medium to large projects
  • Oversee multiple project staffs of up to 5 - 15 engineering professionals, including internal and consulting engineers
  • Ensure all project planning, deliverables, reporting, and spending forecasts are managed and delivered within safety, cost, schedule, and performance success criteria
  • Engage with external parties including equipment vendors, construction contractors, engineering services contractors, and government agencies
  • Complete assigned projects using workflows with Innovation, Operations, and Platform Groups
  • Travel approximately 75% to various manufacturing plants, vendors, suppliers, and engineering service providers, both domestically and internationally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 4 years of Project Management Experience
  • OR 8 years of equivalent Project Management experience in the food, pharmaceutical, or industrial industries
  • Direct accountability for projects with complexity of at least $5 million
  • End-to-end Project Management Experience
  • Ability to travel up to 75% within North America
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship.
