About the position

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer will lead the Quality Program at the plant level in Schenectady, NY, ensuring that products meet internal quality standards. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining quality documentation and processes, performing inspections, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Review, develop, and maintain all quality documentation.
  • Perform in-process inspections, layouts, and measurements daily.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures are sustained in the assembly processes.
  • Manage the implementation of new processes and procedures regarding the introduction of new products or equipment.
  • Coordinate with other departments to develop and implement standard operating procedures for all assembly and quality processes.
  • Develop and implement improved standard procedures through lean processes and tools.
  • Ensure equipment meets required product quality standards and can reproduce results consistently.
  • Train personnel on standard operating procedures and newly introduced assembly procedures.
  • Perform periodic audits of finished products and recommend corrective actions to plant management.
  • Participate in quality reporting and management review processes.
  • Manage quality metrics and present findings to the management review team.
  • Provide engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Engineering or a science field.
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in Process/Manufacturing Engineering or Quality Assurance in a plant environment.
  • Knowledge of process improvement in a manufacturing environment such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt training or certification is desired.
  • Experience in process design/improvement and new production implementation.
  • CAD or SolidWorks experience is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with quality metrics and reporting.
