About the position

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer at Actalent is responsible for addressing quality concerns in both in-house and customer plant environments. This role involves understanding manufacturing characteristics and transmission functions to support complex quality issues and verification of changepoints. The engineer will lead technical initiatives, manage mass production product changepoints, and ensure smooth transitions from new model to mass production. Additionally, the position requires statistical analysis to identify quality concerns and support departmental performance goals.

Responsibilities

  • Support in-house and customer plant quality concerns.
  • Understand TMP-GA's manufacturing characteristics and transmission function.
  • Act as the technical lead for the unit, managing mass production product changepoints.
  • Develop special testing to support mass production changepoint verification and part deviation approval.
  • Coordinate with affected MP Representatives for smooth transitions from New Model to Mass Production.
  • Train TQ Department associates on New Model change points and testing requirements.
  • Prepare and present New Model Evaluation documents to leadership.
  • Lead equipment maintenance, repair, and training for the unit.
  • Utilize statistical analysis to identify quality concerns and improvement items.
  • Report weekly and monthly on quality metrics and concerns.

Requirements

  • Expert level experience in quality controls and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of transmission, casting, machining, and assembly.
  • Experience with design change management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to analyze quality concerns and issue reports in a timely manner.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with technical manufacturing, quality, or engineering experience.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordination between Quality and Manufacturing.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on risk management and activity completion.
  • Critical and innovative thinking skills for problem-solving.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with statistical analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Honda drawings and engineering standards.
