About the position

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer at Actalent is responsible for ensuring that standard operating procedures are maintained throughout the manufacturing processes. This role involves overseeing assembly operations to ensure compliance with specifications, managing the implementation of new processes, and collaborating with various departments to develop and enforce quality standards. The engineer will also focus on continuous improvement initiatives and provide engineering support to ensure product quality and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure standard operating procedures are sustained in the manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure assembly operations conform to general and mandatory specifications.
  • Manage the implementation of new processes and procedures regarding the introduction of new products or equipment.
  • Coordinate with other departments to develop and implement standard operating procedures for all assembly and quality processes.
  • Develop and implement improved standard procedures through the lean process and tools; document so improved process can become organization standard.
  • Ensure equipment is capable of meeting required product quality standards and can repeatedly reproduce these results.
  • Validate accurate work-in-process and finished goods defect tracking.
  • Audit adherence to BOMs (Bill of Materials).
  • Recommend corrective actions to plant management.
  • Perform statistical analysis of collected data, tracking defects back to process, cell, material, or individual.
  • Facilitate and promote the use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.
  • Recommend process improvements to plant management.
  • Participate in quality reporting and management review processes.
  • Provide engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques.
  • Participate in customer meetings and visits; answer customer complaints using an 8D or any other approved formats.

Requirements

  • Quality engineering experience
  • Root cause analysis skills
  • Manufacturing engineering experience
  • Continuous improvement knowledge
  • Lean manufacturing expertise
  • AS or BS Degree in Engineering or Sciences
  • 3+ years' experience in Process/Manufacturing Engineering or Quality Assurance in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge in process improvement such as Six Sigma
  • Experience in process design/improvement and new production implementation

Nice-to-haves

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Training or Certification
  • CAD or SolidWorks experience
