About the position

The role involves managing production operations and leading continuous improvement projects within a manufacturing plant. The position is responsible for achieving targets related to cost, quality, safety, and service while supervising a team of 6-8 salaried employees. The manager will engage in process control, talent management, and collaboration with various departments to optimize production performance.

Responsibilities

  • Champion process control and change management efforts to adapt to upstream and downstream operations changes.
  • Provide supervision to team leaders and manage key resources effectively.
  • Schedule resources and prioritize activities to ensure efficient production schedule compliance.
  • Provide daily direction to production and maintenance employees and team leaders.
  • Communicate and report production and process performance metrics to relevant stakeholders.
  • Engage with plant teams to identify and implement process improvements and cost reduction projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with other departments to optimize production operations.
  • Deploy talent management programs to attract, develop, and maintain manufacturing talent.
  • Ensure the protection of Corning's Intellectual Property (IP).
  • Establish expectations for manufacturing competencies within the department.
  • Approve all process/equipment changes and experimental plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing plant environment.
  • 2+ years of experience in developing and implementing manufacturing line metrics.
  • Proven capability to manage, coach, and develop employees.
  • Certified Green Belt or demonstrated Lean capabilities.
  • Training and competence in plant manufacturing financials.
  • Experience in safety and health fundamentals.
  • Experience managing talent development strategies.

  • Exposure to multiple manufacturing processes and corporate network resources.
  • Participation or leadership in cross-functional teams for improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in innovation and new product development.
