About the position

The Manufacturing Shift Leader at Momentive Performance Materials Inc. is responsible for directing a team of operators to achieve goals related to EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety), quality, service, schedule attainment, and productivity within the manufacturing environment. This role involves leading daily operations, training and development, performance feedback, and effective communication with business leadership and employees. The Shift Leader will also participate in plant-wide emergency response efforts and drive accountability within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Champion comprehensive EHS compliance, including Safe Work Permit proficiency and regulatory audits.
  • Lead 5S initiatives and champion key projects across shifts.
  • Set clear expectations for the production team and drive accountability for quality products.
  • Participate in the Site Brigade & Emergency Response team, developing towards a leadership role.
  • Oversee all aspects of training for the team, including process training and performance feedback.
  • Provide cross-functional support for Shift Leaders in other production areas.
  • Ensure timely communication between shifts using Management Operating Systems tools.
  • Implement KPI tracking for the shift to monitor execution and escalate exceptions as needed.
  • Communicate objectives and deliverables clearly to employees and business leadership.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the annual Area Safety Plan and lead EHS initiatives.
  • Utilize goal-setting tools to prioritize deliverables that meet strategic objectives.
  • Champion site transformation and lead project efforts.
  • Accountable for key production performance indicators and drive corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure production quality requirements are met through leadership and coaching.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree
  • 5 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead teams
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelors degree
  • 3 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Chemical operations experience
  • Experience with SAP transactions
  • Process troubleshooting knowledge
