About the position

The Manufacturing Software Engineering Manager will lead the Manufacturing Software and Controls integration team at Rockwell Automation, focusing on delivering solutions for new product introductions, legacy equipment, and process changes within Manufacturing Process Engineering. This role involves collaboration with operations teams to troubleshoot production issues and partnering with IT and the OT digital transformation team to implement the Connected Enterprise. The manager will also oversee the software standards team to enhance coding efficiency and streamline execution processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Manufacturing Software and Controls integration team.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in designing, executing, and implementing software and controls for custom equipment solutions.
  • Oversee hardware and software development teams to deliver manufacturing equipment solutions to internal customers.
  • Ensure teams adhere to defined standards for development and participate in governance processes.
  • Support the implementation of the Connected Enterprise in Rockwell Automation plants.
  • Create partnerships with the internal IT department to support equipment.
  • Lead integration efforts of manufacturing IT/OT into the solution design process.
  • Develop long-range strategies and translate them into short-term goals and objectives.
  • Drive successful execution of new initiatives and projects by fulfilling individual responsibilities.
  • Identify opportunities to drive productivity within manufacturing.
  • Conduct tasks in accordance with applicable health, safety, quality, and environmental regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience demonstrating technical leadership capabilities.
  • Experience in an agile development environment.
  • Experience with product development methodologies such as Design for Excellence (Df(X)) and Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience focused on employee growth and development.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a software or controls solution developer in C#, C++, and/or Python.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience leading change and continuous improvement in test technology and manufacturing defect detection processes.
  • Familiarity with the new product development process.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems and practices.
  • Understanding of electronics and/or electrical diagrams.
  • Experience working with multiple cultures globally.
