As a Manufacturing Strategy and Development Senior Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the manufacturing strategy at Caterpillar. This position involves planning, directing, and leading large-scale engineering staff and activities to ensure compliance with established policies and objectives. You will be responsible for developing relationships with various facilities and business units, planning and directing implementation strategies, and ensuring that best practices are scaled as we transition to an Industry 4.0 architecture. Key partners in this role will include Caterpillar IT, business unit manufacturing teams, facility leaders, and our extensive partner network. Your responsibilities will include ensuring high awareness across the enterprise of manufacturing capabilities and common practices, communicating enterprise strategies for assembly, fabrication, machining, testing, and digital initiatives, and supporting the footprint strategy across the enterprise. You will work directly with business unit manufacturing professionals to provide expertise in planning, implementing, and supporting processes, procedures, machinery, and tooling to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, quality, and safety. Additionally, you will create and maintain a clear definition and portfolio of best practices to support expedited replication, driving process changes based on research and performance data to improve outcomes related to people, quality, velocity, cost, and safety. Collaboration with enterprise councils and leader forums will be essential to gain support for the best solutions, and you will manage the activities and resources for manufacturing technical leaders, engineers, and support personnel, providing ongoing support for manufacturing challenges and engaging resources to resolve complex production issues.
