About the position

The Production Supervisor at Graphic Packaging International is responsible for directing and coordinating day-to-day shift activities, providing leadership and supervision to subordinates, and serving as a link between direct reports and management. This role involves planning production operations, ensuring product quality, maintaining a safe work environment, and facilitating team development. The successful candidate will undergo training on 1st and 2nd shifts before transitioning to the 3rd shift, with opportunities for career advancement through on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate day-to-day shift activities.
  • Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Make decisions on job assignments and work priorities.
  • Review production and operating reports and resolve operational issues.
  • Ensure equipment condition and department housekeeping.
  • Research, compile, and prepare reports for management.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and lead safety initiatives.
  • Ensure product quality and production efficiencies meet standards.
  • Examine procedures and recommend changes for efficiency and quality control.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of support resources.
  • Observe subordinates to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Verify completeness and accuracy of subordinates' work.
  • Participate in the work of subordinates to facilitate productivity.
  • Instruct subordinates in job duties and arrange training.
  • Facilitate team meetings and support team development.
  • Conduct personnel actions such as discipline and performance evaluations.
  • Administer and communicate work procedures and company policies.
  • Provide guidance in handling complex problems and grievances.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Manufacturing experience required.
  • Experience operating hand jacks, electric pallet jacks, forklifts, and clamp trucks is a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate team members.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience in a converting facility preferred.
  • Knowledge of roll stock cutting machines, printing presses, die cutting machines, and straight-line gluers is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience with SAP and MS Office.
