About the position

The Manufacturing System Engineer Lead position is a critical role that involves performing technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for air vehicle propulsion and related systems. This role encompasses a comprehensive approach to the total system product, addressing all phases from concept through to disposal. The engineer will ensure that customer or product requirements are systematically converted into total systems solutions, taking into account technical, schedule, and cost constraints. In this position, the engineer will conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies. These activities are essential for translating customer requirements into precise hardware and software specifications. As a technical lead, the engineer will oversee the activities of manufacturing and systems engineers who are supporting an air vehicle build within an Integrated Product Team (IPT). The role requires working within a model-based engineering environment (3DX/iBASEt) to create designs for products and tools, as well as manufacturing, assembly, installation, and system testing plans and work instructions. The Manufacturing System Engineer Lead will lead IPT design and plan reviews, necessitating significant collaboration with IPT technical leads, program management, build teams, and customers. Participation in various reviews such as Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PPR), and Program Management Reviews (PMRs) is expected, both on-site and at off-site locations. The position requires periodic travel and demands extensive experience in aerospace propulsion systems operations, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance. A strong background in aircraft jet turbine and/or rocket engines is essential, along with technical leadership experience and strong interpersonal skills. The ability to work effectively within an IPT and make critical program decisions is crucial for success in this role.
