About the position

The Manufacturing Technical Specialist (PCB Assembly/Repair) position at Talent Space, Inc. involves working directly with production processes while adhering to all safety and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) requirements. The role requires following detailed documentation and instructions to consistently produce quality PCB rework and modifications. Under general supervision, the specialist will perform a variety of moderately complex duties within a manufacturing environment, which includes assisting with first-level troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions and process improvements as necessary. The specialist will be responsible for utilizing standardized manuals and procedures to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. This position demands a strong focus on quality and adherence to PCB repair standards, as well as the ability to work with very small components using a microscope for extended periods. The role also requires the use of automated equipment to remove PCB surface mount parts and a solid understanding of Printed Circuit Board workmanship criteria and standards. In addition to technical skills, the specialist must demonstrate strong teamwork ethics and the ability to interact professionally with all team members. The ability to prioritize workload with minimal direction and to juggle multiple priorities to meet production demands is essential. The position is located in an ITAR controlled area, and candidates must be U.S. citizens to qualify for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety and ESD requirements during production processes.
  • Follow documentation and instructions to produce quality PCB rework and modifications.
  • Perform a variety of moderately complex duties within a manufacturing environment under general supervision.
  • Assist with first-level troubleshooting and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Utilize standardized manuals and procedures to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Work with very small parts using a microscope for extended periods.
  • Use automated equipment to remove PCB surface mount parts.
  • Interact professionally and effectively with all team members.
  • Complete Engineering requests as necessary.
  • Prioritize workload with minimal direction to meet production demands.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in PCB assembly and repair.
  • Experience with manual hand soldering and automated equipment related to PCB work.
  • Good hand-eye coordination to perform processing requirements.
  • Experience using basic hand tools, automated equipment, microscopes, and soldering equipment in a production environment.
  • Strong soldering skills using leaded and lead-free solder wire and solder pastes.
  • Ability to build Surface Mount PCBs from drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to utilize a microscope for 8 hours per day plus overtime if needed.
  • Strong knowledge of Printed Circuit Board workmanship criteria and standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with LEAN manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and 5S methodologies.
