About the position

Our large manufacturing client located in San Antonio and Schertz, Texas, is looking for a Manufacturing Technical Specialist to add to their team. The role involves providing support to production and ensuring optimum utilization of production facilities and personnel. Depending on experience, responsibilities may include assisting manufacturing supervisors with production, ensuring production volume, and promoting part quality. The specialist will be responsible for assigned manufacturing processes, providing support to operators, and referring to standard processes and manufacturing documentation to address inquiries and provide guidance. Additionally, the role includes auditing machining areas to ensure that standard work and quality checks are performed correctly, evaluating and recommending changes to existing manufacturing practices, and providing technical and analytical support as needed. The specialist will also report part quality issues, propose solutions, and support the implementation of corrective action items. They will serve as the point of contact for quality and shop floor issues, maintain safety at all times, and engage in creative problem solving to address operational issues. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and preparation of daily status updates, line problems, and countermeasures to the team leader. Furthermore, the specialist will assist in the development of training programs and train operators as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist manufacturing supervisors with production to ensure production volume and promote part quality.
  • Responsible for assigned manufacturing processes and provide support to operators.
  • Refer to standard process, manufacturing documentation, and systems to address inquiries and provide guidance.
  • Audit machining areas to ensure that standard work and quality checks are performed correctly.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to existing manufacturing practices for work simplification, process optimization, cost reduction, quality improvement, and method improvements.
  • Provide technical and analytical support as needed.
  • Report part quality issues, propose solutions, and support implementation of corrective action items.
  • Act as the point of contact for quality and shop floor issues and inquiries.
  • Maintain and foster safety at all times and report safety problems immediately.
  • Conduct risk assessments as needed.
  • Provide support to address production issues and implement corrective action items.
  • Engage in creative problem solving for operational issues including ergonomic/safety, efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks, and quality concerns.
  • Work with cross-functional teams on assigned activities.
  • Prepare and present daily status updates, line problems, and countermeasures to the team leader.
  • Assist in the development of training programs and train operators as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Associate degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or similar field is preferred, but not required.
  • Must have 2+ years of experience working in the manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations (machining or assembly) and ability to understand blueprints and manufacturing documentation is required.
  • Knowledge of G code programming.
  • Ability to interpret CMM reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and general computer software.
  • Analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong ability to handle multiple tasks and manage priorities is required.
  • Must be self-directed, self-starter, and able to multi-task.
  • High energy and a demonstrated ability to implement and get results are essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must enjoy working in a team environment and have strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow regulations and procedures is required.
  • Ability to listen to others is important for this job.
