About the position

The Manufacturing Technician role is focused on assisting in the manufacturing process by working on the production line, utilizing specialized machinery, and ensuring products are finalized and packaged for shipment. The position emphasizes adherence to health and safety guidelines while maintaining production standards and improving efficiency without compromising quality.

Responsibilities

• Reads routing and performs work as assigned by the department supervisor
• Attaches appropriate labels and tags to products and packages
• Operates fabrication shop and machine shop machinery and equipment
• Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
• Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction
• Measures workpiece dimensions to determine the accuracy of machine operation
• Operates any equipment needed to perform the job
• Performs related duties as assigned by supervision
• Operates forklift as required
• Performs any assembly-type functions, using hand or power tools
• Cleans glass as needed
• Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations
• Packages completed items for shipping
• Maintains inventory on hardware
• Notifies supervisor of any mechanical or material issues
• Lifts heavy materials
• Keeps a record of material and equipment
• Wears proper safety equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED diploma
• Three to six months related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice-to-haves

• Fabrication certificate received from a trade school
• Three to six months' work experience in a fabricating shop
