About the position

The Manufacturing Technician - Design and Prototype role at Ideal Aerosmith involves assisting in the design and prototyping of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs). The position requires a technically inclined individual who is well-organized and detail-oriented, capable of collaborating with a team of engineers to develop innovative manufacturing solutions. The role emphasizes a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize materials and supplies for the layup process
• Assist engineers with large composite layups and vacuum bagging operations as necessary
• Perform layups and bagging operations independently
• Perform basic surface preparation prior to finishing
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and technicians, to develop manufacturing strategies and production plans
• Assist with the setup and operation of manufacturing equipment and machinery, ensuring compliance with safety standards and quality requirements
• Assist with the development and implementation of innovative production solutions and techniques to optimize manufacturing workflows and minimize production time
• Monitor production performance and quality metrics, identifying and addressing any issues or deviations from standards
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to troubleshoot technical problems and implement design improvements for manufacturability

Requirements

• High school diploma; Associate degree or technical certification in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, techniques, and equipment
• Experience in advanced manufacturing technologies such as additive manufacturing, CNC machining, and automation preferred
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously
