About the position
Canalside Staffing, a local abrasives manufacturer in Rochester, NY, is seeking multiple Production Technicians to join their team. This full-time position offers a competitive pay range of $16.50 to $20.00 per hour, depending on experience. The work schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts from Monday to Thursday, starting at 5:00 AM and ending at 3:30 PM. The role involves a variety of tasks related to the production of grinding wheels and segments, requiring attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and specifications, as well as operating various types of grinding equipment, including CNC machines and air gauges. Additionally, the technician will monitor machine operations to ensure quality and make necessary adjustments. After the curing process, the technician will pour mixtures into metal molds and remove the finished products, ensuring cleanliness and proper maintenance of the molds using hand tools and scrapers. Other duties may be assigned as needed, making flexibility and a willingness to learn essential traits for this position.
Responsibilities
- Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, drawings, specifications or other written instructions.
- Operate types of grinding equipment, grinding wheels, CNCs, air gauges, micrometers.
- Monitor machine operations to determine if adjustments are needed.
- Pour mixture into metal molds.
- Remove raw grinding wheels and segments from the molds after the curing process.
- Clean the molds after the process by using a variety of hand tools and scrapers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have ability to use standard measuring tools.
- Previous machine operation experience is required.
- Must have mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Must know shop math.
- Must have proven solid work history.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Nice-to-haves
- Manufacturing experience (2 years preferred).
- Machine operation experience (1 year preferred).
