About the position

Skydio is seeking a self-motivated multi-disciplinary Hardware Test Engineer to define, design, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing test solutions. This role is crucial in ensuring that Skydio's products are defect-free, exceed quality requirements, and function reliably for customers. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to develop test plans and specifications, design test stations, and proactively identify and resolve test-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product development, quality, manufacturing, and software teams to define manufacturing test plans and product test specifications.
  • Partner with engineering teams to incorporate Design for Test (DFT) feedback into product design.
  • Design test stations that involve hardware and software development to support manufacturing.
  • Develop Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) and station audit plans to ensure optimal station health for manufacturing.
  • Work with manufacturing and software infrastructure teams to integrate test stations into the manufacturing process and internal test framework.
  • Proactively identify test-related issues through build cycles and drive for timely resolution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience developing electromechanical manufacturing test stations.
  • Proficient in software development, preferably in Python.
  • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
  • Ability to debug from system down to component level.
  • Comfortable using common lab equipment such as DMM, scopes, logic analyzers, PSUs, and signal generators.
  • Ability to analyze data to investigate test failures, assess design gaps, and show process capability and equipment reliability using tools like JMP, MiniTab, or Matlab.
  • Expertise in communication interface protocols such as UART, USB, I2C, GPIB, and RS-232.
  • Ability to supplement engineering work with technical documentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong CAD skills, preferably in CATIA, and mechanical fabrication skills.
  • Experience in electrical design and PCB layout to interface with Device Under Test (DUT).
  • Background in signal processing and statistics.
  • Ability to develop dashboards to visualize and communicate key metrics.

Benefits

  • Eligible to enroll in benefit plans and take advantage of various incentives and stipends.
