About the position

As a Manufacturing Test & Equipment Engineering Technician at Tesla, you will collaborate with engineers to design and develop automated testing equipment for batteries and power electronics components used in vehicles and energy products. This role focuses on creating custom, high-power testing equipment for production lines globally, ensuring robust and efficient testing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in initial equipment conceptual development
  • Interact with various mechanical, electrical, and software engineers throughout projects
  • Modify electrical enclosures and panels (drilling and cutting)
  • Perform electrical/control panel wiring
  • Assemble fixtures and frames using aluminum extrusions and 80/20 components
  • Generate aesthetically simple wire routing and builds
  • Pickup packages and support delivery of testing equipment to contract manufacturers

Requirements

  • 2+ years hands-on experience building/wiring various hardware
  • Exposure to a variety of mechanical systems, production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment
  • Ability to follow mechanical drawings
  • Experience using test equipment (DMM, Oscilloscope, Variable DC power supplies, etc.)
  • Experience with fixture assemblies
  • Comfortable working around high voltage
  • Ability to use basic shop tools (drill press, band saw, etc.)
  • Must be able to solder and crimp both large and small components
  • Experience with cable management and wire routing is a plus
