About the position

Marian High School, a faith-filled secondary school of the Diocese of Fort Wayne South Bend, is seeking a qualified teacher of Spanish for a full-time position starting in August 2024. The role involves teaching Spanish and includes responsibilities for five class presentations and one supervisory period each day. Teachers who are not assigned a sixth class or supervisory period are expected to be available for substitution as needed. The position requires the teacher to be present in the building from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. on regular school days, with additional time required on days with special schedules. The teacher will prepare course outlines, materials, and assignments, and distribute this information to students and the Department Chairperson. They are also responsible for creating emergency lesson plans and maintaining accurate attendance records. The teacher will assist in student supervision, notify administration when leaving the building, and provide adequate supervision during various school activities. Attendance at faculty meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school events is mandatory. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the teacher will safeguard the security of the school by properly maintaining assigned keys and reporting any injuries or damages to school property. They will also proctor standardized tests and fulfill any co-curricular assignments as needed. Responsibilities

  • Teach Spanish to high school students, preparing and delivering five class presentations each day.
  • Supervise one period each day and be available for substitution as needed.
  • Prepare course outlines, materials, and assignments for students, distributing copies to the class and Department Chairperson.
  • Create emergency lesson plans and maintain accurate attendance records for all assigned students.
  • Assist in student supervision during school assemblies and extra-curricular activities.
  • Notify administration when leaving the building or school campus during the day.
  • Attend all faculty and departmental meetings, orientation sessions, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Safeguard the security of the school building and facilities by maintaining assigned keys.
  • Report any injuries sustained by students to the School Nurse and complete the necessary forms.
  • Proctor standardized tests as assigned by the School Counseling Department.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Requirements

  • Must have or be eligible for an Indiana teaching license.
