About the position

The Marine Cargo Surveyor role at Sedgwick involves inspecting cargo that has been damaged during transit, determining the nature and extent of the damages, and providing detailed reports to underwriters and other stakeholders. This position is remote and requires travel to various locations for inspections, ensuring that the cargo is properly documented during loading and unloading processes.

Responsibilities

• Inspect cargo damaged in transit and determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages.
• Review documents to ascertain when the cargo was damaged.
• Provide written reports to underwriters and other parties regarding the cause of loss.
• Oversee the loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages.
• Inspect damaged ships to determine the cause and extent of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures.
• Support the organization's quality program(s).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
• Good customer service skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies.
