About the position

The Trainer at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) is responsible for designing and delivering customized electrical training programs aimed at fostering learner success in a flexible work-based environment. This role emphasizes continuous improvement in instructional quality and alignment with the college's mission and values, while also promoting diversity and equity in education. The Trainer will engage with students from various backgrounds and collaborate with faculty and community partners to close equity gaps in education.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver customized electrical training for naval vessel wiring systems.
  • Manage the training process, including curriculum review and student advising.
  • Train in courses such as basic electronics, digital electronics, motor controls, and PLCs.
  • Provide Electro-Mechanical training tailored to manufacturing organizations.
  • Respond to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns.
  • Revise curriculum to include multicultural perspectives and meet industry standards.
  • Utilize engaging instructional strategies to foster student success.
  • Provide consistent feedback to students to improve performance.
  • Use data to measure quality outcomes related to student success and design improvement strategies.
  • Participate in community and college-sponsored events to promote programs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma, technical diploma, or journeyman certification preferred.
  • At least four years of current Marine Electrical shipyard experience or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Previous teaching experience with adult learners is desired.
  • Knowledge of IEE Std 45, CFR-46, ABS rules, and Mil-Std standards preferred.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
