About the position

Polaris Inc. is seeking an experienced Marine Engineering Architect to join their marine innovation team as a Staff Engineer - Platform Architect. This role is pivotal in establishing and overseeing the technical deliverables for vehicle platforms, ensuring that the architecture supports key product characteristics and vehicle level requirements. The position requires balancing tactical trade-offs with long-term strategic thinking to meet business objectives while driving innovation in marine product engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Establish requirements, specifications, and key product characteristics for vehicle platforms.
  • Lead the technical resolution of cross-functional conflicts in early product development phases.
  • Ensure architectures are balanced to deliver attributes from mechanical, electromechanical, electrical, and software domains.
  • Develop and communicate the technology integration plan for the platform and subsystems.
  • Facilitate technical trade-offs between platform attributes and subsystems while protecting customer-facing KPCs.
  • Ensure design integration and geometric compatibility with mechanical and occupant package objectives.
  • Identify attribute compatibility issues and develop solution alternatives considering various trade-offs.
  • Benchmark competitive products and innovations.
  • Interact effectively across the organization including program management, customers, and senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.
  • 9+ years of Marine product engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of the Marine industry and associated technical design, compliance, and standards.
  • Experience with composites, fiberglass, and marine manufacturing methods.
  • Experience with jet-propulsion and other forms of marine drives.
  • Proven ability to progress mechanical design solutions for complex systems.
  • Knowledge of all phases of Product Development.
  • Proficient in design and CAD software (Creo preferred).
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
