About the position
The Marine Underwriter Assistant position at Bass Underwriters, Inc. in Plantation, FL, offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing team in the recreational marine insurance sector. You will need to research and understand carrier guidelines and delegated authority, referring any items that exceed your authority level. Effective communication with local agent partners, brokers, and underwriters is essential to facilitate smooth operations and maintain strong relationships within the industry. Responsibilities
- Assist in the Underwriting process for current Marine book of business
- Review applications and evaluate risks
- Research and understand carrier guidelines and delegated authority
- Refer items exceeding authority level
- Communicate with local agent partners, brokers, and underwriters where necessary
- Process and service new and renewal business for US based yachts
- Train or assist in the training of others, as necessary
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Risk Management & Insurance or related field
- Experience with boats and yachts
- Working knowledge of property and casualty insurance
- Strong customer orientation and excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong problem analysis and resolution skills
- Ability to prioritize and respond to complex issues
- Detail-oriented and able to multi-task
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to navigate various websites and databases
