About the position

The Market Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of healthcare facilities within the assigned market, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective care and services. This role involves strategic leadership, operational performance management, and fostering positive relationships with medical staff and the community. The COO will drive initiatives for continuous improvement, employee satisfaction, and quality healthcare delivery, while also managing financial performance and resource optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee overall operations of healthcare facilities within the assigned market.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care and services.
  • Promote the facility's position and image in alignment with its mission and values.
  • Lead the development of physician/facility strategies and execute plans for optimization.
  • Establish plans to address productivity, operational performance, staff retention, and satisfaction.
  • Foster quality care in partnership with medical staff.
  • Create an environment that supports employee satisfaction and improved service quality.
  • Initiate strategic processes for continuous measurable improvement.
  • Exhibit strong communication and listening skills for facility-wide collaboration.
  • Ensure the highest standards of healthcare delivery and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten years of progressive healthcare/facility management experience.
  • Demonstrable record of significant career progression culminating in a senior management position.
  • High-level complex problem-solving abilities in group and one-on-one situations.
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives in a tertiary facility.
  • First-hand experience as a Chief Operating Officer or equivalent in a competitive environment.
  • Expertise in quantitative analysis to support facility goals and objectives.
  • Decisive leadership with an understanding of physicians' viewpoints and needs.
  • Strong reputation for inclusive, trust-based physician relations.
  • Proven success in balancing cost/quality issues and partnering with medical staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA/MHA or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in a system with excellent employee, physician, and patient satisfaction.
