About the position

Zurich is seeking an experienced Middle Markets Underwriter for their Denver, CO office, offering a hybrid work model. This role focuses on handling complex new and renewal business while serving as a Subject Matter Expert. The Underwriter will engage with agents and brokers, utilizing strong technical underwriting skills and a sales mindset to provide tailored insurance solutions for various industries.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a customer industry advocate to improve customer experience by understanding their risk and offering the best insurance solutions.
  • Use a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment, and pricing.
  • Leverage risk insights, data, and models to drive informed decisions at the point of sale.
  • Identify gaps and align Zurich's products to provide contract certainty for customers.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills and act as an innovative advisor.
  • Underwrite, analyze, and generate new and renewal business.
  • Engage in market-facing activities within the growing Middle Markets division.
  • Administer and monitor underwriting rules, insurance laws, and rating manual rules.
  • Develop and maintain agency and broker relationships.
  • Work within broad limits on highly complex assignments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area, or 6+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support area.
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 1+ years in Underwriting or 4+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support area.
  • Knowledge of line/s of business and legal/regulatory guidelines.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
