About the position

The Market Finance Lead at Humana plays a crucial role in the SouthEast Region Operations and Finance department, which encompasses a four-state geography and serves over 1.2 million Medicare Advantage members. This position is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on various market data to connect financial outcomes with operational effectiveness. The Market Finance Lead will work on problems of diverse scope and complexity, ranging from moderate to substantial, and will report directly to the Regional Vice President of Operations in support of the Medicare Advantage line of business. In this role, the Market Finance Lead will support all market financial, administrative, product, claims, and trend analytics. As the team lead for all market financial reporting, budget and administration development, product and bid development trend analytics, and overall P&L support, the Market Finance Lead will have significant visibility to the regional senior leadership team and exposure to a broad spectrum of corporate business partners and leaders, as well as some visibility to external provider partners. The position requires advising regional leadership on functional strategies on matters of significance while exercising independent judgment and decision-making on complex issues with minimal supervision. The Market Finance Lead will also lead a team of three direct analytical staff, working closely with internal stakeholders including Finance, Actuarial, Clinical, Medicare Risk Adjustment, Provider Contracting, and Provider Engagement. This role leverages data analytics, business insights, cross-functional collaboration, in-depth business knowledge, and strong written and verbal communication skills to drive optimization of financial and operational performance for the region. The position supports Humana's Medicare Advantage product strategy, budgets, and administrative staffing and expenses, making it a pivotal role in the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 3 direct analytical staff to support key functions and deliverables.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on market data to connect financial outcomes with operational effectiveness.
  • Support all market financial reporting, budget and administration development, product and bid development trend analytics, and overall P&L support.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders including Finance, Actuarial, Clinical, Medicare Risk Adjustment, Provider Contracting, and Provider Engagement.
  • Leverage data analytics and business insights to drive optimization of financial and operational performance for the region.
  • Advise regional leadership on functional strategies and exercise independent judgment on complex issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data analytics.
  • Ability to lead and manage special projects requiring cross-functional partnerships.
  • Experience advising leadership on financial strategies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in Excel.
  • Experience leveraging data analytics to identify improvement opportunities and influence change.
  • Experience developing methods and criteria for measuring and summarizing data for complex analyses.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience using SAS and/or SQL.
  • Strong knowledge of claim-line level healthcare data, provider contracting analysis, or clinical operations and metrics.
  • Experience in the Medicare Advantage bid process.
  • 2+ years of project leadership experience.
  • 3+ years of healthcare experience.
