About the position

The Market General Manager at Johnson Controls is responsible for leading the market's operations with a focus on safety, customer satisfaction, and financial performance. This role involves driving growth in HVAC, FIRE, and SECURITY domains, coaching local leaders, and ensuring adherence to company standards and processes. The position requires collaboration with regional and functional leaders to enhance market performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example as the safety voice for the market.
  • Ensure safety, integrity, and ethics excellence in all assigned markets.
  • Instill a customer-centric culture through performance excellence.
  • Drive top and bottom line growth in all assigned markets.
  • Accountable for financial results and success of HVAC, FIRE, & SECURITY domains within the market.
  • Drive forecasting and actualization of business forecasts within the market.
  • Coach and develop local market leaders and teams on all areas of performance.
  • Collaborate with the Region Management Team (RMT) based on identified weaknesses.
  • Champion Organizational Health initiatives in the market.
  • Provide feedback to Region Leaders and BPLs regarding market trends and program deficiencies.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement in the local market.
  • Act as the face of Johnson Controls for customer accounts and high-priority opportunity pursuits.
  • Ensure adoption of standard work/processes.
  • Serve as an active member of the Region Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in management.
  • Experience in P&L portfolio growth.
  • Understanding of service and construction environment safety requirements and techniques.
  • Strong commitment to ethics, integrity, and workplace diversity.
  • Experience in customer/relationship development.
  • Performance management skills.
  • Talent development capabilities.
  • Negotiation skills and political savvy.
  • Knowledge of the truck-based service and construction industry and marketplace.
  • Understanding of overall market landscape and lifecycle purchasing approach.
  • Proven top line and bottom line growth performance and orientation.
  • Strong coaching skills in continuous improvement/change leadership.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate customer needs effectively.
