About the position

As an Assistant Market Grille Department Manager at Hy-Vee, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Department Manager to deliver high-quality products and exceptional customer service. This position focuses on ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers while maintaining a well-organized and efficient department. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with food safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring and concern in all interactions.
  • Assist customers by escorting them to products, loading/unloading heavy items, and addressing customer suggestions.
  • Answer the telephone promptly and provide helpful service to customers, including taking product orders.
  • Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
  • Check orders for the day and set up a timeline and production schedule.
  • Review daily production list with department employees and assign tasks for completion.
  • Ensure food display case product is rotated and replenished.
  • Monitor the Market Grille area for cleanliness and safety issues, assigning tasks to staff as needed.
  • Control inventory through constant monitoring of products and ensure the supply area is clean and orderly.
  • Handle catering contracts and follow all food safety guidelines.
  • Address and resolve customer issues and suggest ad items for the department.
  • Assist in monthly inventory and maintain proper sanitation procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience; Sanitation (Food Safety) courses encouraged.
  • One year of similar or related experience.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to file, post, and mail materials; copy data from one record to another.
