About the position

The Market Grille Express Clerk at Hy-Vee is responsible for providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service in the Market Grille department. This role involves handling food safely, maintaining cleanliness in the work area, and ensuring customer satisfaction through various support tasks. The clerk will engage with customers, assist with their needs, and work collaboratively with team members to enhance the shopping experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn their names.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and loading or unloading heavy items.
• Takes customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answers telephone inquiries promptly.
• Reviews orders for the day and ensures the work area is clean and neat.
• Handles food safely and checks the status and appearance of food for freshness.
• Prepares and replenishes product as necessary and anticipates product needs for the department.
• Runs the department registers, receives payments, and makes change as applicable.
• Removes trash in a timely manner and maintains adherence to hygiene and dress guidelines.
• Washes dishes, orders products, prices items, and delivers orders as needed.

Requirements

• No education requirement.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction and count and record figures.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
