About the position

The Human Resource Director (HRD) at Maria Parham Health serves as a strategic partner to the Facility CEO and other leadership team members, playing a crucial role in defining, developing, and implementing human resources initiatives. This position is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction across all areas of Human Resources, including employee relations, talent acquisition and assessment, compensation management, performance management, training and leadership development, and policy and procedures. The HRD will manage a team of HR professionals and report directly to the hospital CEO, while also receiving formal direction from the HSC Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP). The HRD is expected to lead the activities of the Human Resources staff, ensuring alignment with the HR strategy and vision, and to develop and implement effective recruitment, retention, and succession planning programs that adhere to metrics and analysis-driven strategies. In addition to overseeing HR operations, the HRD will serve as a liaison with the hospital leadership team, communicating and leading HR strategic initiatives, analysis, and recommendations. The role requires the development of consistent administration and application of HR policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The HRD will provide advice and counsel to facility management regarding progressive discipline, attend disciplinary meetings, and facilitate terminations to promote a positive employee/employer relationship. Furthermore, the HRD will direct the development and maintenance of competitive compensation programs, ensuring HR compliance and readiness for audits and surveys. The HRD will also be responsible for developing effective communication channels to educate and inform employees on various topics, focusing on employee engagement. This includes oversight of various HR-related programs such as Workers Compensation, Performance Management, HR Data integrity, Leave of Absence, and payroll activities. The HRD will ensure compliance with legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation and advising management on necessary actions. The position also involves active participation in community efforts and maintaining a positive and professional representation of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for all areas of Human Resources within the assigned facilities.
  • Lead the activities of Human Resources staff members, including defining expectations, training, and managing performance.
  • Work in conjunction with HRBP to ensure alignment of HR Strategy and Vision.
  • Develop and implement effective recruitment, retention, and succession planning programs.
  • Serve as a liaison with the hospital leadership team, communicating and leading HR strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent administration and application of HR policies, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Provide advice and counsel to facility management regarding progressive discipline and attend disciplinary meetings.
  • Direct the development and maintenance of competitive compensation programs utilizing market data.
  • Ensure HR compliance and readiness for audits and surveys.

  • Develop, monitor, review, coordinate, and facilitate training programs as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required; Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Five years of progressive HR experience with a concentration on Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Training and Development, and Compensation Management, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  • Supervisory experience overseeing various HR support roles is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state employment law, CMS, OSHA, and TJC regulatory compliance is required.
  • PHR/SPHR certification is preferred.

Nice-to-haves
