About the position

The Market Manager at Brookshire Grocery Company is responsible for overseeing the sales and profitability of the market and seafood departments. This role involves providing leadership to department personnel, ensuring product quality and compliance with food safety standards, and promoting customer service and sales initiatives. The Market Manager will also manage inventory, analyze sales data, and maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage department sales and profits using acceptable business practices.
• Provide leadership and direction to department personnel, including hiring, training, and performance appraisals.
• Maintain product levels and ensure quality control in the market and seafood departments.
• Ensure compliance with food safety practices and Brookshire Grocery Company standards for fresh meats.
• Promote customer service and sales building practices.
• Review historical data to predict future sales from ads and promotions.
• Manage inventory to ensure satisfactory in-stock levels using item management processes.
• Analyze profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data, providing summaries to upper management.
• Conduct on-the-job training for department staff on tools and equipment usage.
• Promote product sales through suggestive selling initiatives.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the working and shopping environment.

Requirements

• Minimum of 18 years of age required.
• High school diploma or GED required with two or more years of related experience.
• Food Handler certification required.
• Manager Food Safety certification required.
• Advanced knowledge of market department operations and scheduling software systems.
• Ability to lead and motivate others and communicate effectively with customers and partners.

Nice-to-haves

• Prerequisite experience as a meatcutter, apprentice, and/or manager trainee preferred.
