About the position

The Market Manager at Brookshire Grocery Company is responsible for overseeing the sales and profitability of the market and seafood departments. This role involves managing department personnel, ensuring product quality and safety, and promoting customer service and sales initiatives. The Market Manager plays a key role in maintaining inventory levels, conducting training, and ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage department sales and profits using acceptable business practices.
  • Provide leadership and direction to department personnel.
  • Maintain product levels and quality control in market and seafood departments.
  • Ensure fresh meats are displayed according to company standards and food safety practices.
  • Promote customer service and sales building practices.
  • Conduct interviews, hiring, training, and development of partners.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance and address complaints.
  • Review historical data to predict future sales from ads and promotions.
  • Manage inventory to ensure satisfactory in-stock levels.
  • Review profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data; summarize issues for upper management.
  • Maintain and improve sales performance and financial results.
  • Check inventory on trucks, unload products, and ensure accuracy of inventory.
  • Cut, weigh, package, and label products as needed.
  • Enforce quality control and food safety standards.
  • Conduct on-the-job training for partners.
  • Promote product sales through suggestive selling initiatives.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two or more years of related experience or equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
  • Food Handler certification required.
  • Manager Food Safety certification required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prerequisite experience as a meatcutter, apprentice, and/or manager trainee preferred.
