About the position

As a Market Purchasing Manager at Fischer Homes, you will oversee subcontractor and supplier relationships to ensure sufficient trade partner capacity for the company's growth. This role involves negotiating contracts and managing costs for materials and labor, while also acting as the sole purchasing manager in your region. Your success will be measured by your ability to motivate yourself, build industry networks, and manage external direct reports with a customer-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

  • Manage subcontractor and supplier relationships to ensure adequate trade partner capacity.
  • Negotiate favorable contracts and manage costs for materials and labor.
  • Prepare cost analyses on new and existing products and/or labor.
  • Develop inflationary reports forecasting inflation percentages.
  • Responsible for local supplier and trade partner sign-ups and pricing.
  • Act as Category Captain for assigned categories of spend across all regions.
  • Ensure the creation of Variance Purchase Orders, Job Start PO's, plans and selections are accurate and timely.
  • Analyze VPOs to root cause and recommend/implement countermeasures.
  • Track trade partner capacity and compare to production schedules.
  • Meet and communicate with trade partners regarding reliability, capacity, and payment status.
  • Work cooperatively with internal teams to improve vendor standards and scopes of work.
  • Improve retention and growth opportunities for core subcontractors & suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or relevant fields.
  • 5 years of experience in purchasing and supply chain management in the Construction Industry.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage external direct reports with a customer-oriented approach.
