About the position

The Market Research Analyst at the Port of Vancouver plays a crucial role in supporting the port's mission by conducting market research and providing data analysis on markets, customers, and competitors. This position involves generating reports and presentations to communicate insights to management, assisting with budget development, and supporting marketing initiatives aimed at increasing brand awareness and customer engagement. The role is ideal for both experienced analysts and recent graduates eager to develop their skills in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct market research and provide data and analysis on markets, customers, and competitors.
  • Generate reports and presentations to communicate insights to management.
  • Investigate and compare competitive factors including performance, pricing, financing, and distribution.
  • Source data from numerous databases and verify data quality and accuracy.
  • Assist with responses to information requests from other internal departments.
  • Manage and update port tariffs ensuring compliance with Federal Maritime Commission's rules and regulations.
  • Monitor port contracts and rates.
  • Provide support for marketing initiatives and campaigns aimed at increasing brand awareness and generating leads.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and market dynamics.
  • Engage with customers, external stakeholders, and industry colleagues, providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in business, economics, transportation, international trade, or related discipline.
  • Experience working in a business environment performing economic or market research, forecasting, statistical and data analysis, or related experience.
  • Presentation creation, delivery, and technical and business writing experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with numbers and data.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Card) upon hire.
  • Advanced personal computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Business intelligence software knowledge such as Tableau and/or Power BI preferred.
