About the position

The Market Sous Chef at US Foods is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the market kitchen facility. This includes managing product procurement, inventory, food preparation, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards. The role also involves assisting in customer kitchen visits and supporting various events such as sales meetings and training sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing kitchen facility inventory, including ordering, receipt, and proper storage of food products.
  • Execute a regular cleaning schedule, including cleaning of large cooking and refrigeration equipment.
  • Ensure regular maintenance and upkeep of kitchen equipment at the direction of the Food Fanatic Chef.
  • Assist in food preparation, recipe execution, plating, and presentations.
  • Help plan, prepare, execute, and break down prospect and customer kitchen visits.
  • Assist in planning, preparation, execution, and break down of seller training events and customer events.
  • Shop for additional ingredients needed for customer and company events as required.

Requirements

  • Food Service Sanitation Certified; ServSafe certification required.
  • Knowledge of commercial kitchen operations, including inventory management and food preparation preferred.
  • Prior experience in large, fast-paced food operations of at least 3 to 6 months desired.
  • Basic computing skills preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and carry out verbal or written instructions.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Culinary school experience or classes desired.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.
