KU Memorial Union Marketing and Programs located in Lawrence, KS, has an immediate opening for a full-time Marketing and Communication Coordinator. This position is responsible for executing marketing activities for the Memorial Unions and will assist the Marketing Manager in the formulation, execution, and assessment of marketing and public relations strategies for various union departments, including Dining, Bookstore, Event Services, Human Resources, and Programs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong curiosity to learn, be a creative and collaborative thinker, and have a drive to deliver maximum and efficient value for our initiatives. Knowledge across digital, traditional, and social media marketing is preferred. The Marketing and Communication Coordinator will execute integrated marketing activities as assigned by the Marketing Manager based on key departmental initiatives and strategies. This role ensures that all marketing efforts align with the immediate and long-term business goals of the KU Memorial Union. The position requires a commitment to project management, where the coordinator will work with various units and staff to research, conceptualize, write, and review promotional materials, including printed brochures, digital signage, videos, emails, and social media campaigns. The coordinator will be responsible for completing projects on time, within scope, and within budget. In addition to project management, the coordinator will curate written marketing content drafts, assist with proofreading, and develop effective written marketing materials. The role also involves using project management software to track and manage various campaigns, providing regular updates and deadlines to the Marketing and Programs staff. Analytical skills are essential, as the coordinator will track and interpret data analytics to inform future marketing strategies and keep up with design trends to ensure relevance. The position requires creativity in designing various materials for print and digital collateral, establishing creative direction, and providing design recommendations to clients. The coordinator will also proactively seek and recommend continuous improvements to processes, encouraging a culture of creativity and experimentation within the marketing team. Additional responsibilities include attending meetings, fulfilling media outreach efforts, assisting with social media content deployment, and coordinating Union events. This position is in-person, with a schedule of Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, and may require working some events outside of normal business hours.
