About the position

As the Marketing and Creative Advertising Director at Community Journals, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the marketing strategies and creative direction of our publications, including Greenville Journal, Upstate Business Journal, TOWN, and atHome magazines. This position is designed for a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a unique blend of strategic thinking and creative prowess. You will be responsible for leading a team that acts as a liaison between our sales/account representatives and clients, ensuring that we deliver exceptional advertising solutions that resonate with our community. Your expertise will be crucial in managing external freelance resources for creative design, developing and executing marketing strategies that enhance our brand visibility, and collaborating closely with clients to understand their advertising needs. In this role, you will design and produce compelling ad campaigns across various platforms, including digital, print, and social media. You will oversee the end-to-end ad production process, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time and meet our high-quality standards. Regular communication with clients will be essential to ensure their satisfaction and to address any concerns that may arise. You will also be responsible for monitoring and analyzing campaign performance, using insights to optimize results and suggest improvements. Staying abreast of marketing trends and emerging advertising technologies will be key to keeping our campaigns innovative and competitive, allowing us to continue telling great stories and deepening our connection with the community we serve.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team who serves as a liaison between sales/account representatives and clients.
  • Manage external freelance resources for creative design.
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote our services and enhance brand visibility.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their advertising needs and provide customized solutions, working with freelance and internal design resources.
  • Design and produce compelling ad campaigns across various platforms (digital, print, social media).
  • Manage end-to-end ad production (digital and print), ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Monitor and communicate upcoming deadlines to all stakeholders.
  • Ensure there is regular communication with clients, ensuring their satisfaction and addressing any concerns utilizing existing technology and software to maximum potential.
  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance to optimize results and suggest improvements.
  • Stay up-to-date with marketing trends and emerging advertising technologies to keep campaigns innovative and competitive.

Requirements

  • Ability to work and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without direct supervision.
  • Proven people management skills.
  • Ability to handle and resolve problems with a positive attitude.
  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience plus 10+ years in Marketing, Advertising, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in marketing, advertising production, and creative design.
  • Strong proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent).

  • Experience in a news/media company
  • Proficiency with Newspaper Manager, Slack, Creatopy, PandaDoc
  • Must be local to Greenville, SC. No relocation assistance will be provided.
