About the position

The Marketing and Creative Content Director at the YMCA of Metro North is responsible for executing the creative expression of the YMCA brand and its various sub-brands across all channels. This role involves ownership of creative content on all websites, apps, and social media channels, requiring a strong ability to translate strategic needs into compelling content that presents a unified brand identity. The director will work closely with members of the marketing and development teams to deliver compelling creative assets on schedule, serving various campaign needs, including advertising creative, video and social content, direct mail, and other collateral. These efforts will be based on the campaign strategy and direction established by the Vice President of Communications and Marketing. This position plays a critical role in developing assets that are activated as part of a holistic organizational strategy. The essential functions of the role include leading graphic design efforts to create high-quality graphics for various marketing channels, designing and implementing effective email marketing campaigns, and managing social media strategies to enhance brand awareness and engagement. The director will also collaborate with the development team to create promotional materials and campaigns that support fundraising initiatives and design marketing strategies for branch events to increase participation and community engagement. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in marketing, communication, graphic design, or non-profit management, along with at least three to five years of experience in design and marketing. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and experience with website content management systems are essential, as well as excellent communication and management skills. The role offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation of high-quality graphics for various marketing channels, including social media, email, website, and print materials.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure cohesive visual branding and messaging.
  • Produce visually appealing and on-brand content that resonates with the target audience.
  • Design and implement effective email marketing campaigns to drive customer engagement and conversions.
  • Develop email templates, write compelling copy, and create visually appealing graphics.
  • Develop and execute social media strategies to enhance brand awareness and engagement.
  • Manage and grow the organization's social media presence across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Create, curate, and schedule engaging content that aligns with the brand voice.
  • Monitor social media trends and adjust strategies as needed to stay relevant.
  • Engage with followers, respond to comments, and foster community interaction.
  • Collaborate with the development team to create promotional materials and campaigns that support fundraising initiatives.
  • Design and implement marketing strategies for branch events to increase participation and community engagement.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events, ensuring cohesive branding and messaging across all materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least three to five years of experience in design, marketing, and/or business-to-consumer marketing skills.
  • Superior communication, influence, and management skills.
  • Experience collaborating with others to meet the needs of branch operations.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite: Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign or other design and editing software.
  • Experience with website Content Management Systems (WordPress or Drupal) and HTML coding.
  • Experience with Constant Contact, Hootsuite, or equivalent communications platforms.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with social networking sites and management software.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with a sense of urgency, maturity, punctuality, and follow-through.
  • Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive material, yet creative and flexible.
