About the position

The Marketing and Digital Content Specialist at Palm Valley Animal Society (PVAS) is responsible for developing and managing digital content to enhance the organization's communication and marketing efforts. This role involves providing direction and support to the Development Department, implementing web content management procedures, and maintaining digital content across various platforms. The specialist will also contribute to digital media marketing strategies and ensure consistency in messaging across social media channels.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage digital content for PVAS internal and external websites.
  • Update PVAS web pages for the Internet and Intranet, including writing, editing, and designing new and existing web pages.
  • Work with web development and hosting vendors to manage and troubleshoot PVAS websites.
  • Coordinate the creation of digital content and campaigns.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to support and advise on digital content utilization.
  • Compile and evaluate analytics to support effective use of digital content.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Support PVAS Board and management in defining site purpose, target audiences, and design.
  • Coordinate regular reviews of web pages to ensure accuracy and visual appeal.
  • Utilize basic SEO techniques to maximize inbound traffic to PVAS websites.
  • Develop and communicate web and digital content policies and standards within the organization.
  • Develop content for various social media platforms to ensure message consistency.
  • Create digital content, including videos and graphics, for special programs and campaigns.
  • Transform abstract concepts into web-based multimedia products.
  • Assist in the strategic development of marketing materials and public education campaigns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in media arts, communications, marketing, public relations, or related field.
  • Two years experience in digital content management and/or marketing/communications, or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least one year of experience working in an animal shelter or related agency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office, and related tools.
  • Content writing experience for all media platforms.
  • Proven graphic design, social media, and networking expertise.
  • Strategic and creative mindset with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Portfolio of work available for review.
  • Experience in program implementation and management, customer service, or case management.
  • Working knowledge of dog and cat handling and behavior.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ShelterLuv software.
  • Knowledge of herd management practices as they apply to shelter health.
