About the position

The Marketing & Events Project Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing marketing projects and events to promote Oakland Thrive's mission, brand, programs, and services. This role involves managing project timelines, collaborating with internal teams and external partners, and ensuring the successful execution of marketing campaigns and events.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage marketing strategies for events and projects
  • Manage project timelines and resource allocation
  • Manage project budgets, track expenses and ensure all marketing activities are cost-effective
  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of events, including logistics, marketing, and execution
  • Work with the Finance Department to process invoices and handle financial reporting related to marketing projects
  • Coordinate with executive leadership, content creators, and program staff to ensure project goals are met
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement solutions to keep projects on track
  • Develop and oversee the creation of marketing strategies and materials, including digital content, print collateral, and social media posts
  • Work with the marketing team to design and execute integrated marketing campaigns
  • Ensure all campaign elements align with Oakland Thrive's mission, brand guidelines, and target audience
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external vendors, partners, and stakeholders involved in events and marketing projects
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between all parties to ensure smooth project execution
  • Develop and implement metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns
  • Analyze data and prepare reports on campaign performance, providing insights and recommendations for future initiatives
  • Stay informed of industry trends and best practices to enhance Oakland Thrive's marketing efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field
  • Master's Degree or certifications in nonprofit organization project management or similar sector preferred
  • Proven three (3) to five (5) years of experience in marketing and event management, preferably in a nonprofit organization or similar sector
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles and strategies, including digital marketing, social media, and content creation
  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello) and marketing tools (e.g., Google Analytics, CRM systems)
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach executive leadership and work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Keen attention to details and accuracy
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage stress effectively
  • Driven by results and goal-oriented
  • Passion for nonprofit organizations and a commitment to advancing social causes.
